Magnum photo agency’s Jerome Sessini was one of the first photographers at the MH17 crash site in Ukraine.
TIME magazine has published his horrific images. Many are disturbing, including deceased children; all are raw. Due to the extremely graphic nature of the images, I have not published them here, but believe they are nonetheless important, and a link to them is below.
Photojournalists are often first at the scene of disaster, and the work of Jerome Sessini is powerful. One can only wonder what went through his mind when he arrived, but he has told TIME: “I don’t think I’ll be able to board a plane without thinking about these images.”
While we mourn the dead and grieve for their families, friends, and communities, these photos also remind us of the living-victims residing in the village nearby. Victims who had hell thrust upon and around them.
The images can be viewed at the TIME website.
