Georgia O’Keeffe, born on this day

Today is the birthday of Georgia O’Keeffe. She was born on a Wisconsin dairy farm in the U.S. in 1887, and died in 1986. The U.K. Guardian described her as, ‘the most revered and popular female American artist of her age’, and she is also considered to be the ‘Mother of American Modernism’. Famous for her close-up paintings of flowers, and landscapes of New Mexico, she is without doubt one of the greatest painters of the 20th Century.
